Making violent video games illegal or restricting the sale of violent video games result in an increase children's curiosity about such games and make the child want to play it more so that he or she can see form himself what all the controversy is about. Thing that struck me the most: A professional essay, at the very least, gives the illusion of being objective, though your essay seems entirely subjective. It will make your reviewer think twice about your integrity in the paper. Your introduction paragraph before the essay states that you essay is 'about how violent video games do not increase aggression in adolescents'.
However, you seem to prove two points. Firstly, that they do in fact increase aggression and that video games have positive aspects. These two points are, of course, true to some extent but if you are trying to show the opposite then your essay does a poor job. I don't want to outright criticise you and you are right in saying that video games may not be the main culprit but it's just that the essay doesn't really do what you say it will which technically means it is a bad essay.
Generally, when people write essays they are coloured by their personal view and when it comes to gamers and the violence issue then we tend to get fired up. Take a step back and really think about what you're trying to say and how you can construct your argument. Also, the last few paragraphs could use a bit more substance. Epic win, right here. I'm sick of people plastering a stereotype on people who play and enjoy violent video games.
Other then a few grammatical error's the essay itself is vary well structured. Violent Video Games do increase aggression, non-violent video games also increase aggression, Adam Sandlers face increases aggression in The essay is well structured with references and a logical plan.
There are a few grammar errors but for someone who doesn't speak english well, that is fantastic. I agree on nearly every level with your essay. I have been playing violent videogames since i was 10 and I turned out fine. My parents knew I was playing them but trusted me enough to know violence is bad. Some of the nights they would go out and get high, i preferred staying at home with a few friends playing splitscreen Timesplitters and FIFA!!!!: Hi, very nice essay.

I definitely agree that there are many aspects of gaming that positively affect the player, heavily outweighing the negatives, which the media tends to overexaggerate. Abby88 Follow Forum Posts: I'd say it's a great essay and I agree completely with the points you made, although the grammar could be a tad better in places which is understandable, since you said English isn't your first language. Since it's for school, I can go through and nitpick it for you if you'd like. All this definitely does not contribute to the proper and healthy development of a young, growing body.
Mental health can also be affected by engaging in video games at a young age. This suggests addiction and inappropriate behavior. It is a well-known fact that many gamers especially fans of online games suffer from addiction, which is no less serious than narcomania or alcoholism. For instance, in August , a report surfaced about the death of a year-old South Korean gamer who had spent 50 hours playing a real-time strategy game BBC.
For another significant example, one needs to look no further than July , when a Taiwanese teenager fatally collapsed after a hour game session Crawley. Cases like these are quite numerous and happen all around the world. They make additional arguments to the negative evaluation of video games as an activity which brings harm to young people. In its turn, inappropriate behavior can be caused by violence in video games.
According to research, children and teenagers who play violent video games tend to be more aggressive. They confront their teachers and peers more often and display a decline in academic achievements. Such psychological deviations also do not implicate video games as a constructive and useful occupation for young people Crane. Individuals who spend excessive hours playing video games may lack the capability to distinguish between reality from fantasies.
Video games often offer simplified and conditional models of environments, relationships, friendships, and rivalries. Gamers use these models to learn to interact with the world around them, and they often lack skills that would be developed by real-life experience instead of the simulation Crane. Therefore, it can be implied that another negative effect caused by video games is the inability of social adaptation on the part of the gamer.
It can be concluded that video games are a form of entertainment which is not suitable for children and teenagers. The game a child plays can be a good or a bad thing in his life.
For example, children who learn how to play chess at a tender age usually show signs of high levels of intellect. However, the same case does not apply for violent video games. The effects of violent video games are as varied as the number of the games.
One effect that is common with all of them is their addiction. This can be a terrible thing because a child might not do any productive activity whenever at home. This means that he does not study when at home or even do his assignments. Consequently, his performance at school definitely deteriorates. Moreover, the child could sacrifice development of his talent such as attending a music class just for the purpose of playing a violent game.
Another effect that has caused ripples among parents and the society in general is the possible violent behaviour in kids who play such games. Several studies have been conducted to investigate the relationship between such games and violent behaviour in children.
